Overview
The process engineer is part of the manufacturing team in Rechlin and reports directly to the plant manager. The core responsibility is to initiate and execute process improvement projects / programs for Solmax’s key technologies on site (sheet extrusion, net-extrusion, GCL production and profile production) such that our Rechlin plant can maintain / strengthen its competitive position in the long run. The process engineer will also support innovation projects as defined by the marketing team and innovation engineer and contribute to various Capex projects.

Responsibilities
Understanding of the process, identification of key parameters influencing the performance and quality of products and productivity
Leading and taking charge of process improvement projects; contributing to the execution of and sometimes lead innovation projects.
Developing a broad understanding of the site’s core technologies and the state of the art of those (through e.g. visiting trade shows or conferences), and of competition. This in order to develop a vision for future development of those technologies.
Execution of trials for process improvement, product innovation or raw material qualification:
organization and analysis of validation tests for new raw materials
organization and execution of laboratory tests (projects, specific requests, etc.)
writing of reports and follow-up of project actions (French and English)

Collaboration with the different internal partners (production, quality, maintenance, marketing & innovation departments, etc.) and external partners (university laboratories, test laboratories, suppliers, pilot lines, etc.) in the context of development projects and programs.
Knowledge-sharing, best practice-sharing and support of the sister facility in Cairo, Egypt.
Participate in the control and validation of new products, in the quality monitoring of products in support of the quality department, analysis of process problems, study of non-conformities and implementation of corrective actions
Support and training of production teams during tests and for the improvement of industrial performance
Assisting in defining Capex applications and supporting their implementation.

Qualifications
Academic degree
As a chemical- or mechanical-engineer or similar, ideally with skills extrusion of plastic materials
Who has at least 5 years of experience in such a role
Foreign languages: good level of professional English required
Personal skills: good organizational skills, good interpersonal skills, proactivity, perseverance, team spirit, adaptability, tenacity and curiosity
Other: project management, continuous improvement tools
