Research Assistant in Flow Cytometry

Job Description:

Four outstanding groups (Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros, Prof. Dr. Peter Lichter, Prof. Dr. Duncan Odom and Prof. Dr. Stefan Pfister) at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) have an immediate opening for a research assistant in flow cytometry or a cell sorter operator.

The four laboratories focus on different scientific topics: Signaling and Functional Genomics, Molecular Genetics, Regulatory Genomics and Cancer Evolution, and Pediatric Neurooncology. Although the primary duties are the daily operation of one of our cell sorters (BD FACSAria TM Fusion), you will also be involved in other operations such as instrument maintenance, teaching, training (supervising) and scheduling of users.

Requirements:

We are looking for English-speaking and self-motivated individuals, able to work independently and as part of a scientific team. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential to establish good relationships with researchers. Attention to detail to ensure accurate work and record keeping, as well as a flexible schedule are also very desirable.

Successful applicants should be certified as a technical assistance
(MTA / BTA / CTA). A minimum of 1-2 year’s laboratory experience in biomedical research would be desirable.

Knowledge of different flow cytometric analysis software (e.g. FlowJo, DIVA, FCS Express) as well as hands-on experience with flow cytometers (especially cell sorters) will be highly advantageous.

The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of prolongation.
